Call for Papers
We invite proposals addressing the theme, to present In-Person, or as a Virtual Participant. We welcome a variety of types of papers and types of presentations. Proposals will be reviewed continuously until the conference programme is full. If your proposed Abstract is accepted you may submit a full paper. If you wish your paper to be double-blind reviewed for publication in a peer reviewed journal (Publication Opportunities below), then please indicate this, otherwise your paper will not be considered for publication. All abstracts will be published in the Conference Proceedings. All proposals, presentations, papers, abstracts or posters must be in English.
Submit your abstract / poster by attaching it with the registration form and payment after reading the guidance given below.
Scope and Research Themes
The scope of this international conference is interdisciplinary between management and engineering. We encourage contributions that focus both on single issues whether social, environmental, economic or technological, as well as contributions that focus on the challenges and opportunities where these streams seem to merge. We seek to develop knowledge and its related practice. We encourage critical perspectives, situated in the context of an evolving global dynamics of business through merging management and engineering.
We seek proposals from two main domains Management and Engineering as shown in the table.
Management
- Corporate/Business level strategy
- Global Strategic Management
- Organisational Design and Behaviour
- Corporate Finance
- Production and Operations
- Human Resources Dvelopment
- Research Methods in management
Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Research Methods in Engineering
For example, select a theme from management and related industry practicing company from engineering field, which could combine and merge exploration into both fields.
For example, sustainability in the form of longevity or growth of business class traffic is an issue for airlines with the advent of online communication and video conferencing including political aspects. However, this does not preclude aerospace companies such as Boeing or Airbus investing in aircraft development or airlines investing in larger and better fleets. Therefore, sustainability (a corporate strategy theme) when merged with Aerospace engineering and the Automotive industry together form a research base.
Similarly, Productions and Operations management could be combined with Chemical engineering for oil and gas companies which could generate another research theme.
All of the above listed management and engineering fields could be combined with various industry practices such as automotive, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, technology hardware in the manufacturing category; and retail, banking, mobile telecommunications, information technology or software in the services category, to name a few, which could generate over-arching research themes and issues.
Examples for research topics or research papers:
- Applications of Qualitative Techniques in Operations Research
- CEOs Dilemma in Recession: Debt or Equity Finance
- Sustainability of Intelligent Buildings
- Effects of Electromagnetic Waves on Blood Circulation or Blood Pressure
- Optimization Techniques in High Performance Manufacturing Systems
The above examples are indicative, but not limiting, and submissions are invited that fall outside of, overlap or combine these research areas within two major domains of management and engineering.
Types of paper
Empirical Research: This type of paper reports on any type of research undertaken by the author(s). The research involves the construction or testing of a model or framework, and the collection of empirical data through any combination of laboratory tests, field tests, interviews, surveys, action research, observations, simulation(s), laboratory tests and the analyses of data.
Conceptual: This type of paper will not be based on empirical research but will contribute to theoretical development through raising research questions, propositions or hypotheses. This type of paper is likely to be reflective and discursive, drawing on theoretical ideas and involving comparative studies of others. The paper may contain a very novel and/or radical idea which might refute or extend the existing body of knowledge in the field.
Literature review: All the above types of paper should cite relevant literature. However in some cases the main purpose of the paper is to critique the literature in a particular subject area. It may be a selective bibliography providing advice on information sources, or it may be comprehensive describing and evaluating the main contributors to the development of a topic. This type of research involves meta-analyses of large amounts of articles or numbers of journals based on single or multiple perspectives.
General review: This paper provides an overview or historical examination of some concept, technique or phenomenon. Such a paper is likely to be more descriptive than discursive.
Publication Opportunities
All accepted abstracts and papers will be published as Conference proceedings. In addition, registration in the conference provides participants the chance to publish full papers in online academic journal, an online research database and an e-book to be compiled from conference papers. Full papers submitted for publication will be blind refereed, and acceptance for publication will be based on referee reports.
